Fernando Weiner was appointed Governmental Affairs Manager for the City of Coral Gables in February 2024. He brings a rich and diverse background to this role with a career that spans the military, law and operations management. 

In this role, he is responsible for working closely with the commission, the city attorney’s office, and department directors on legislative priorities and managing local, state and federal government affairs. 

A graduate of the United States Military Academy, Weiner embodies the leadership and resilience that are the hallmarks of service academy alumni. His military service, culminating in the rank of Captain in the U.S. Army, was distinguished by significant leadership roles and meritorious achievements, including receiving a Bronze Star Medal for his service as an infantry platoon leader in Afghanistan. 

Weiner graduated from the Chicago-Kent College of Law and began his legal career at the Wolf Criminal Law firm in Chicago as Operations Manager and Law Clerk. Following this, he worked as Director of Operations and Associate Attorney at Jeffrey S. Weiner, P.A. Law Firm, where he spearheaded marketing initiatives, managed vendor contracts and played a crucial role in litigation document handling. He also assisted with both state and federal cases.
