Alberto N. Parjus was appointed City Manager of Coral Gables in January 2025. In this role, he oversees a municipal government serving more than 51,000 residents and leading a team of 1,100 employees. Parjus manages an operating budget of $226 million and a five-year capital plan of $399 million. As the city's top administrator, he reports directly to the mayor and four city commissioners, ensuring the effective delivery of services and the execution of strategic initiatives.
Before his appointment as City Manager, Parjus served as Deputy City Manager, overseeing the Community Recreation, Economic Development, Finance, Historical Resources & Cultural Arts, Human Resources, and Innovation & Technology departments. In this capacity, he worked closely with the City Manager on innovation and technology initiatives, special projects, and key assignments. He previously held the role of Assistant City Manager from February 2022 to November 2023. He began his tenure with Coral Gables in February 2022 as an Assistant City Manager.
Parjus is a seasoned administrator with extensive experience in the public sector. Prior to joining Coral Gables, Parjus served as Deputy Director of the Department of Transportation and Public Works at Miami-Dade County. He was responsible for planning and directing the department’s $839 million budget, overseeing finance, information technology, procurement, materials management, and a staff of 250.
Parjus began his career at Miami-Dade County as a personnel specialist in Corrections and Rehabilitation. He rose through the ranks, taking on roles of increasing responsibility in Human Resources, Management and Budget, Transit, and Community Action. Additionally, he gained valuable municipal experience during his time as an Assistant City Manager at the City of Miami, where he oversaw capital improvement, transportation, code compliance, and economic development for three years.
Parjus holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Florida International University.
