Clifford R. Friedman is an Assistant City Attorney for the City of Coral Gables. In this role, he assists the City Attorney and provides legal counsel to city departments.

Before joining the city, Friedman worked in the public and private sectors. Most recently, he served as in-house counsel to a large, publicly traded physician group providing legal counsel to senior leadership on operations, contracts, human resources and regulatory issues. He has significant experience in negotiating complex contractual arrangements and ensuring organizational compliance with federal and state laws, rules and regulations.

Prior to that, he served as Chief Legal Counsel for the Florida Department of Health in Broward County where he provided legal counsel on a wide range of issues impacting department operations, including regulatory matters, enforcement proceedings, public records and employee relations. Before joining the department’s legal office, he served as its Director of Talent & Risk Management. 

Friedman earned a Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of Miami School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from California State University, Chico. He is admitted to practice in Florida.
