Monday - Friday: Construction

Saturday: Commercial and Residential Interior Construction

Hours Allowed: 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Saturday: Residential Areas for Exterior Construction

Hours Allowed: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

  1. If performed by property owner/resident under an owner builder permit.
  2. If performed by property owner/resident and does not require a permit.
  3. Power/pressure cleaning of sidewalks, driveways or roofs.

Sunday: Construction

All construction is prohibited.

Holiday: Construction

All construction is prohibited.

No work is permitted on federal holidays recognized by the city, which includes Dec. 24.

Rules and Regulations for Construction

  1. Permits must be posted and original plans must be located on-site at all times.
  2. All job sites are to be kept in a clean and sanitary manner free from all trash and debris. The lawn should be cut at all times. Dumpsters should not be allowed to overflow. The fence and dust barrier must be maintained in good condition at all times.
  3. All portable toilets are to be kept facing toward the inside of the property, off the city right-of-way, and odor-free at all times.
  4. Only one construction site sign allowed on the job site as follows:
    1. Residential building site sign shall be no larger than 40 square inches in total area, shall not exceed 6 feet in height above ground, and shall be placed on the construction fence or a minimum of 5 feet inside of the property line.
    2. Commercial building site sign shall be no larger than 16 square feet in total area, shall be placed on the construction fence or a minimum of 10 feet inside of the property line and not to exceed 8 feet in height above the ground.
  5. The city-designated "No Trespassing" sign shall be displayed near the entrance of construction site facing the city right-of-way at all times. Legible contact information on project manager must be included.
  6. City rights-of-way, including sidewalks and swales, are to be kept free from all construction materials and debris at all times.
  7. Please ensure that you inspect existing buildings, attics and roofs for endangered species of bats before you renovate or demolish these structures. If you encounter roosting bats, under federal and state wildlife laws, you must stop work and contact the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service at 772-562-3909 or verobeach@fws.org.
  8. Construction vehicles must have permanent signage with a minimum height of 3 inches per letter or number indicating license number and company name.
  9. Construction vehicles and/or worker's must be maintained on-site and off the sidewalk.
  10. Construction Hours: If the official city holiday falls on a Saturday, the Friday preceding the Saturday will be the official holiday. If it falls on a Sunday, the following Monday will be the official holiday.
