Proper pet waste disposal is crucial in maintaining a clean, walkable and pet-friendly city! When disposing of pet waste, consider the following:
- Carry waste bags during walks and promptly dispose of pet waste in household garbage or pet waste disposal stations located throughout the city.
- Pet waste should never be dropped in swales, as it is unsightly, leaves a foul odor and pollutes runoff water, waterways and Biscayne Bay.
- Per Ordinance 2024-41, violations are subject to a fine of up to $500, however, property owners shall not be fined if they request and install a sign from the city informing the public not to dump pet waste in the property owner’s trash pit and have not dumped pet waste in the trash pit.
