Congresswoman Maria Elvira Salazar recently held a ceremony honoring first responders and four Coral Gables Fire Department personnel were recognized for their exceptional dedication and service to the Coral Gables Fire Department reinforcing the vital role they play in serving the community.
With over two decades of service, Captain Thaddeus Ovcarich has played a pivotal role in mentoring new fire officers and developing the team. As President of the Coral Gables Firefighters Benevolent Association (CGFFBA) for the past 20 years, he has spearheaded numerous charitable initiatives, including Breast Cancer Awareness, Autism Month, the Fire Cadet Program, and a scholarship program for high school seniors pursuing careers in fire service.
Additionally, Lieutenant Carlo Milito, Lieutenant Cristina Muslera, and Firefighter Emilio Martinez were honored for their exemplary service as outstanding paramedics, demonstrating exceptional skills in medical incidents and representing the department in advanced life support competitions. They were recognized as EMS Crew of the Year for their lifesaving efforts during a cardiac arrest incident involving a City of Miami Fire Department employee. Their swift actions contributed to the patient's recovery, highlighting their dedication and expertise.
