In honor of The Palace Coral Gables’ 10th anniversary as an active retirement community in the City Beautiful, The Palace will host “Walk the Mile,” celebrating the city where residents live, play and thrive on Friday, Aug. 4, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at The Palace Coral Gables, 1 Andalusia Ave.
Local stores, restaurants, service providers, and entertainment and cultural venues will display photographic banners featuring The Palace residents who are their patrons during a month-long celebration.
“Walk the Mile” will feature a proclamation presentation by Mayor Vince Lago and an unveiling of 12 photographic banners arranged on recreated City of Coral Gables streets tracing back “Ten Years of Excellence.”
The festivities will include: recognition of the 26 founding residents who moved to The Palace Coral Gables, a spectacular cake replicating the 10-story building, and a jazz trio for entertainment.
Following “Walk the Mile” on Aug. 4, the community can also enjoy these events:
- Saturday, Aug. 5, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Enjoy lectures, demonstrations and presentations by participating sponsors at The Palace Coral Gables.
- Saturday, Aug. 5, at 7 p.m.: Join us for a meet-and-greet with Mayor Vince Lago who will discuss the city’s wealth of programs and services for older adults.
- Sunday, Aug. 6, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.: A street fair to celebrate “Walk the Mile.”
