Continue the conversation about how the city can acquire more shaded green parks in our Central Business District (CBD). The CBD is the downtown area bounded by Douglas Road, Almeria, LeJeune Road, and Navarre. There are plenty of opportunities to participate in upcoming meetings where important city issues and ideas are discussed. These meetings are intended to foster meaningful engagement amongst residents, Staff, and policymakers, as well as to share updates, gather your input, and listen to your feedback and ideas.
The City of Coral Gables is hosting a public community meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 17, at 6:30 p.m. at the Coral Gables Museum, 285 Aragon Ave. There will be a brief update on the current status of open space in the downtown area with the goal for the city to acquire more landscaped and shaded open space, followed by some ideas of how to incentivize the creation of more open space for shaded parks. The Commission may consider legislation to incentivize development to create open space at the street level. Downtown Coral Gables is the vibrant commercial heart of the city and the long-standing vision is to encourage walkability and place-making to increase its value.
