Saturday, Feb. 8, at 7:30 p.m., a fantastic program will be presented at the UM Gusman Concert Hall.
Spanish composer Manuel de Falla’s celebrated ballet The Three-Cornered Hat has remained a favorite since its premiere. Gerard Schwarz has crafted an orchestral suite from it, which will be performed by the Frost Symphony Orchestra.
In celebration of the Frost School of Music’s centennial, Frost professor Etienne Charles has written a new work for the orchestra. One of his compositions premiered at the opening concert of the newly renovated David Geffen Hall at Lincoln Center.
The concert will conclude with Gustav Mahler’s Totenfeier, which later became part of his Second Symphony.
