April 19, New Canon Chamber Collective presents an unforgettable evening that bridges two masterful composers - Johann Sebastian Bach and Margaret Bonds - through their deeply expressive works of faith, struggle, and redemption. 

The program weaves selections from Bach’s St. Matthew Passion, a cornerstone of Baroque sacred music, with Margaret Bonds’s Simon Bore the Cross, a powerful cantata that reimagines the story of Simon of Cyrene through the lens of African-American spirituals.
