Aging Together

Tuesdays, 2 p.m.
Join volunteer Wendy Kadushin, Ph.D. for group discussions on topics such as aging in America, depression and anxiety, loss and grief, and relationships and family.

Aqua Zumba

Mondays at 2 p.m. and Wednesdays at 3 p.m.

Provides a fun and enjoyable, low-impact aquatic exercise with varying fitness levels. Aqua Zumba adapts the Zumba dance and international rhythm to water. Meet at The Palace Pool, 1 Andalusia Ave. Bring water shoes, towels and toiletries.

Arts, Crafts and Conversations

Fridays at 10:30 a.m.

Class provides an opportunity be get creative. Instructor presents weekly projects which students may participate in or choose another activity. Additionally, discussion topics are proposed each week. This class provides a creative outlet to help stimulate the mind. 

Ballet

Tuesdays, 5:15 p.m.

Whether you’ve never danced ballet before or it’s been a long time, join us in this fun and safe ballet class. We will do simple barre exercises, ballet workout routines and fun center work.  This class will develop your musicality, flexibility, strength and grace, but most of all, we will share our love for ballet as a group.

Barre Intensity Class

Wednesdays, 9 a.m.

The Barre Intensity Class is a total-body workout that transforms you physically and mentally. Class fuses Pilates, dance, and functional fitness training to improve balance, build strength, make you more flexible, burn calories, and improve stability through a stronger core.

This classes incorporates: small, isolated movement to fatigue the muscles, large range of motion to elevate the heart rate and sequences of exercised for upper and lower body.

Book Club

Second Monday of each month at 2 p.m.

Brain Gym

Fridays at 2 and 3 p.m.

Introducing "BETTER MEMORY BASICS." This course targets auditory and visual memory working (short-term) memory and processing speed. Think of it as a personal gym, where you exercise your memory, attention, brain speed, people skills, intelligence and navigation instead of your abs, bi-ceps, and quads. Just as our bodies require care and exercise, so do our brains especially as we age. Exercise your brain and stay sharp.

Canasta Club

Saturdays, 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Join the fun and the challenges at the Adult Activity Center Canasta Club! Supplies, instructions and play will be included, no experience necessary.

Circulo De Lectura (Spanish Book Club)

Comunidad con Alma (Community with Alma)

First and fourth Friday of each month, 11:30 a.m.

Domino Free Play

Tuesdays, 5 to 6:45 p.m.

Join us for a classic game of skills and strategies, for 2 to 4 players. Enjoy and compete with family and friends, single player, or doubles. Challenge yourself, hand after hand until someone emerges as the “Ultimate Champion of the Day”!

Drawing & Painting

Mondays, 10:30 a.m.

Find your "Artistic Self" and enjoy the basics of pencil drawing and acrylic painting.

Essentrics – Classical Stretch

Fridays, 9:30 a.m.

Join us for a dynamic, gentle, full body, low impact workout combining stretching & strengthening. Through standing and floor work, this class will increase your flexibility and mobility.

French Conversation

Wednesdays or Thursdays at 10 a.m.

Join an AAC volunteer and practice the language of love. Participants must be able to converse in French.

Game Day

Fridays, 10:30 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Each week participants choose the games they wish to play such as Mahjong, Rummikub, Phase 10, and others.

Intermediate French

Tuesdays, 1:30-3 p.m.

Join Jane Rahman for French lessons that focus on light-hearted short stories and discussion in French. 

Joy Share Club, discussion with friends

The 2nd and 4th Thursday of every month, 3 to 4:30 p.m

Join a community of people who are ready to reclaim joy by sharing their journey. Come along as we explore new experiences through discussions, forums, and other activities that foster friendship and support.

Knitting and Scrapbooking

Mondays and Wednesdays, 1 to 3 p.m.

Bring a project to finish or learn new crafts. All levels are welcome. Scrapbooking is a way of preserving, presenting, and arranging personal and family history in the form of a book, card or photo album.

Life in Motion

Mondays and Thursdays, 12:30 p.m.
Join Fitness Coordinator Maria for this low-impact dynamic movements class that helps improve physical strength, posture, balance, coordination, and brain health. 

 

Line Dancing

Mondays, 11:15 a.m.
Gain confidence by learning the basic line dance steps. Line dancing is a choreographed dance with repeated sequence of steps in which a group of people dance in one or more lines or rows moving in different directions. Join Fitness Coordinator, Maria Fleites, as we have fun, challenging your brain while learning new patterns and routines losing ourselves in the music!

Mahjong

Mondays, 12:30-2:30 p.m.

Join us for a fun afternoon of playing Mahjong, a tile-based game devolved in China during the Qing dynasty!

MS Amigos

Second Tuesday of each month, 4 p.m.

MS Amigos works to improve the quality of life for people affected by Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in Central and Southern Florida and brings awareness to critical MS research. Join the movement toward a world free of MS. Looking for a way to get to know others and share ongoing support? Join our group that meets on the second Tuesday of each month with Maria Zaldivar.

Open Bridge

Tuesdays from 1 to 3 p.m.

Join us for an afternoon of open-play bridge with your friends at the AAC!

 

Party Bridge

Thursdays, 1-3 p.m.

Join us for an afternoon of playing party bridge, beginners welcome!

Pickleball

Wednesdays and Fridays, 2 to 4:45 p.m.

Saturdays, 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. and 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.

Pickleball's growing popularity can't be denied! It is one of the fastest-growing sports in the country. Join the AAC in a racquet sport that combines the best of badminton, tennis and table tennis.

Pickleball is FREE but registration is REQUIRED – space is limited.

Pilates

Mondays at 10 a.m.

A class for beginners to learn classical Pilates. Anyone regardless of fitness level can benefit from this class. Please be sure to bring a mat, water, and comfortable clothes and shoes.

Portrait Drawing

Thursdays, 10:30 a.m.

Find your "Artist Self" and enjoy the basics of pencil drawing and acrylic painting at the AAC.

Puzzle Club

Fridays, 12 p.m.

Join us at the AAC for a fun filled puzzling adventure! We will work together to build different puzzles and play different puzzle games.  Drop-ins are welcome!

Saturday Strength and Toning

Saturdays, 10:15 a.m.

Combine strength exercises with body-sculpting toning in the new Strength and Toning class. Use light weights and flexible tubing while performing multifunctional sets of exercises to build muscles in your arms, legs, core and glutes. Emphasis is also placed on balance training.

Saturday Zumba

Saturdays, 9 a.m.

Have fun, burn calories, and dance your way to fitness with Zumba. Using Latin-inspired rhythms, along with pop songs and oldies, you will master easy dance steps to obtain a full-body workout. Relieve your stress, improve your coordination and enjoy yourself while getting your cardio done. No dance experience necessary. Bring a water bottle, a towel and a smile!

 

Spanish Conversation

Mondays, 2:30 to 4 p.m.

Join Dr. Ramon Sanchez for Spanish Conversation for non-native speakers. The class will include reviewing basic grammar, discussing Latin American current events, reading short stories and interpreting lyrics of popular songs.

  • Prerequisite: Basic comprehension of Spanish

Stretching

Wednesdays, 10:15 a.m.

Join us for a stretching class to improve your flexibility, mobility and joint health led by volunteer Christine.

Tai Chi

Chi-Kung

Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1:45 p.m.

Practice the internal ancient Chinese martial art of balance, memory, strength, and peace. Patrons may also participate in the class by sitting in a chair for a modified version of Tai Chi.

Chair Tai Chi

Fridays at 10:30 a.m.

A gentle exercise to help people receive the benefits of Tai Chi with the comfort and safety of a chair. This allows people who can't stand or who don't feel confident with their balance to participate and benefit. Benefits include balance, flexibility, range of motion, strength, energy, pain relief, tranquility, stress reduction and peace of mind.

Total Body Conditioning

Tuesday and Thursdays, 10 a.m.
Progressive full-body workout with a focus on toning and resistance training of all muscle groups. This class will focus on cardio, strength, stability, and flexibility. Participants always have the option to modify the range of motion and resistance. Participants should have the ability to work on and off the floor. Bring a mat – fitness weights are provided.

Watercolors Workshop

Tuesdays, 10 a.m.

The watercolors class will focus on getting comfortable with watercolor painting techniques and enjoying the process of painting. Participants will experiment with the flow of colors and water using creative techniques and be encouraged to put emotion into painting, exploring, and developing their creativity.

Yoga

Gentle Yoga

Fridays, 11:30 a.m.

This is a slow-paced practice that combines gentle yoga poses, breath work, meditation, and strengthening and stretching the entire body. This class is an invitation to relax, unwind, and de-stress while also learning and/or refining the fundamentals of a yoga practice. This class is open to all experience levels, although one should feel comfortable and confident with their ability to get up and down from the floor.

Restorative Yoga

Tuesdays, 4 p.m.

Join us for a spicy yoga class that will be equally relaxing yet challenging. Spicy Yoga will add a twist to the gentle Yoga practice by incorporating challenging postures for those at all levels of Yoga including beginners. Through various Yoga poses, pranayama’s, and asanas you will finish the class feeling accomplished, relaxed, and with a sense of wellbeing.

Life Seeds of Yoga

Wednesdays, 12:15 p.m.
Join volunteer Sandra Scheer in this class where she provides a holistic approach to health with movement, breathing and meditation techniques. Class level: medium. Please bring a mat, block and strap.

Young Viejos Softball League

Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9:30 a.m. - 12 p.m.

A slow-pitch softball league for players 65 years old and older. Participants must register at the Coral Gables Youth Center prior to participation.

Zumba

Tuesdays and Thursdays, 11:15 a.m. 
It's a calorie-burning dance fitness party. Zumba takes the "work" out of a workout, by combining high energy and motivating music with an interval-style workout. Try this aerobic workout that pushes endurance and tones the entire body. Sweat with a smile.

Zumba After Hours

Thursdays, 5:30-6:30 p.m.

Have fun burning calories and dancing your way to fitness after work with Zumba After Hours! Using Latin-inspired rhythms, along with pop songs and oldies, you will master easy dance steps to obtain a full-body workout. Relieve stress, improve your coordination, and enjoy yourself while getting your cardio done.
