Community Visioning: Bringing Art To Miracle Mile
Posted Date: 10/13/2016

Help shape the vision for public art on the City’s main street. The City of Coral Gables would like to hear your ideas that would inspire public art on Miracle Mile to complement the current streetscape project. Meet the proposed artists on Tuesday, October 25, from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. at the Miracle Theatre, 280 Miracle Mile.

One of the options for commissioning artworks for the City of Coral Gables is to select artists based on professional qualifications. After an extensive review process, the Arts Advisory Panel with the support of the Cultural Development Board, recommended three artists to design artworks within three mid-block crossings along Miracle Mile.

The artists Ball-Nogues Studio (Benjamin Ball and Gaston Nogues), David Brooks, and Meejin Yoon are visiting Coral Gables on Tuesday, October 25 and will be meeting with the Streetscape design team, the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce and members of the Business Improvement District. They will tour the City and complete their day with the opportunity to meet residents, ask questions, and share examples of their work.

This community engagement meeting is intended to share and gather information to assist the artists as they begin their work designing site-specific proposals for Miracle Mile. Once submitted, the designs will be made available for public comments.

The City of Coral Gables appreciates your interest in this project. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Catherine Cathers, Arts and Culture Specialist at 305-460-5094 or ccathers@coralgables.com.
