Kerdyk high res

Welcome

Vice-Mayor William “Bill” Kerdyk, Jr. currently serves on the Commission for the City of Coral Gables. He began his public service life with the City in 1995 when he was first elected into office. Voters have re-elected him by overwhelming margins ever since. He currently represents the community in the capacity of Vice-Mayor.

Committed to enhancing the quality of life for residents, Bill has initiated several successful programs. He is the founder of the City’s Parknership Program, a public/private partnership with the mission of underwriting the purchase or enhancement of parks, fountains, bridges and other open spaces throughout Coral Gables. As an advocate for traffic reduction measures, Bill has implemented several programs to prevent congestion on our roads which includes the very popular Coral Gables Trolley system. Transporting approximately 1.1 million passengers a year, the City’s Trolleys are the vital link that connects passengers to work, home and leisure activities while reducing traffic and the strain on the parking system. In an effort to improve the traffic flow and the aesthetics of the downtown business district and with the help of Miami-Dade County, Bill initiated the Ponce de Leon Median Project. The highly traveled boulevard was enhanced with a landscaped median, Trolley stops and other improvements that are consistent with the unique character of the City.

Bill is well aware of his responsibilities as a steward of the community; it’s a role he takes seriously. His voting record is indicative of his position as a fiscal conservative. He practices restraint when making decisions on how best to use tax payer monies, always weighing the benefits to the community and cost, and, whenever possible, Bill finds alternative sources such as grants, donations from private sources and public/private partnerships to fund initiatives and events.

Bill is deeply involved in the community, and as such, has held several leadership positions and served on many distinguished panels and organizations that impact Coral Gables. Among his various appointments, Bill recently served as the Governor’s appointee to the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), the board responsible for the development and planning process of transportation throughout Miami-Dade County.

A firm believer in providing residents greater access to their local government, Bill holds many town hall meetings throughout the year where residents can voice their opinions, learn of upcoming projects and ask questions.

Born and raised in the City of Coral Gables, Bill is a Coral Gables High School graduate and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Florida International University. He is the President/CEO of Kerdyk Real Estate, Inc., a multimillion dollar company specializing in commercial brokerage and property management in Miami-Dade County. Bill and his wife Lynn, a clinical child psychologist, have three children, William III “Trae”, Lindsay and Leigh Mason.
