On December 9, the City of Coral Gables celebrated Public Transit Day - a community day of action where individuals are encouraged to ride mass transit to get to work and share their experience with others through social media. To support this event and do their part, Coral Gables’ Public Works staff
went car free for the day. They used 4 different modes of transportation which included bicycling, The Coral Gables Trolley, Metrorail and the Metromover. Throughout the day staff took a combined 72 miles of alternative transportation which saved over 50 Pounds of CO2 Emissions. In addition to the environmental benefits staff, was also able to save over $41 (in fuel cost, wear and tear on their vehicles, and cost for parking).
You can try transit any day of the year. Check out The Coral Gables Trolley or the array of transit offerings by Miami Dade Transit.
